Riana Mondavi

Co-Proprietor and West Coast Brand Manager

Much like her father and sisters, Riana’s career in the wine industry started at 10 years old working as a lab assistant at Charles Krug Winery. First purchased by her great-grandparents in 1943, Charles Krug truly became the playground for the Mondavi Sisters while learning the ropes of the family business at the same time.

In 2009, Riana completed her studies at Villanova University’s School of Business with a degree in Marketing and International Business. Following graduation, she moved to Miami, Florida to work for Southern Wine & Spirits as a Restaurant Wine Sales Associate. Under the direction of the country’s largest wine and spirits distributor, Riana spent two years learning the world of wine sales and distribution. In January of 2011 she relocated to Seattle, WA to start her journey as the first fourth generation family member to join the family’s business as a fulltime employee. While in Seattle, she spent four years as the Northwest Regional Sales Manager for C. Mondavi & Family overseeing sales in five states.

Riana moved back to California in the fall of 2014 to reside close to her family in the Napa Valley. Still working for the family’s business, she worked the next two years managing the Northern California Regional Sales followed by two years living in Dallas, TX to launch the company’s first National Accounts On-Premise Sales program. After TX, She and her husband returned once again to the Napa Valley where Riana took on the roll as the Director of West Coast Chains. Riana continues to pave the way for the rest of her sisters as the sole representation of the fourth generation working for the family business.

In addition to working full-time for C. Mondavi & Family, she is the Co-Proprietor and West Coast Brand Ambassador for Aloft and Dark Matter Wine. While Aloft was first launched under the C. Mondavi portfolio in 2008, Riana and her sisters later acquired the brand in January of 2017. However, Riana and her sisters started to shape their own future in the wine industry with the launch of Dark Matter Wines in 2005, starting with a single-vineyard Howell Mountain Zinfandel.
